The Library Learning Commons
has launched new Accessible Library Services for students with disabilities
and students who are Deaf, deafened or hard of hearing.
• Extended loan period for books
other selected reference materials
• Research assistance and library tours – contact your Program
Liaison Librarian
• Research help from your home - by phone, email, TTY or Live Help
• Assistance with photocopying and getting books and other materials
from the
book shelves
• Requesting alternate format for print materials
• Assistive devices to use in the campus libraries: hand held magnifiers
and
magnifiers (called a mono-mouse) that work with TV monitors; large print
computer keyboards; portable lighting devices and book holders.
• upgraded ZoomText software in designated computer stations in
the Library
Learning Commons
• ubi duo device at the circulation and research help desk of your
campus library:
the ubi duo assists communication between hearing, Deaf, deafened and
hard of hearing people and those who prefer to communicate instantly via
type-to-text displays
• 23 Library staff trained in Everyday ASL
